Nick Lamb made his name as a carver of netsuke, a type of miniature sculpture for the hand originating in Japan. Netsuke began as part of an assemblage of elements allowing the Japanese to carry small items while wearing kimonos, which have no pockets. Lamb also sculpts life-sized wildlife woodcarvings and bronzes.
